Biography

Biography

Ruler of the Titans and Sky Father of Olympus, Cronus fathers gods with his wife Rhea, but a prophecy that suggests he’ll be dethroned changes everything.

Youngest Titan

Cronus is the youngest of the Titans, son of the primordial Sky Father Ouranos and the Earth Mother Gaea. He oversees the first era of man, The Golden Age, and a golden race of humanity who knew no evil, ate only acorns and other wild fruit. These humans obey Cronus without question.

Vast Superhuman Abilities

Cronus possesses vast superhuman strength, able to lift 100 tons, and durability, plus undefined energy powers. He is a formidable combatant and wields a mystic flint sickle bestowed by Gaea. At least as Sky Father, he could enchant living beings and inanimate objects, create interdimensional apertures, alter his shape, and possessed limited precognitive abilities.

Out for Blood

Seeking his father’s power, Cronus commits patricide and when he hears a prophecy that his children will dethrone him, he eats them as they emerge from the womb of his wife and sister, Rhea. This choice leads to his demise by his son, Zeus, whom Rhea secreted away in a cave beneath Crete. He eventually poisoned Cronus’ cup, causing him to vomit his children back into existence and an ensuing 10-year war known as the Titanomachy.

A Wrathful History

When Cronus’ father Ouranos banished their other children, the cyclopes and centimanes, to the netherworld Tartarus, the vengeful Gaea urged the Titans to attack him. Coveting his father’s power, Cronus convinced the reluctant Titans to ambush Ouranos in his sleep. Cronus delivered the killing wound to Ouranos with his sickle, a gift from Gaea, and became the Titans’ leader and the new Olympian Sky Father, marrying his sister Rhea. However, the dying Ouranos prophesied Cronus would likewise be dethroned by his own children. To prevent this, Cronus consumed his children upon birth. Appalled, Rhea concealed her sixth pregnancy and birthed Zeus on Earth. Zeus poisoned Cronus to disgorge his siblings and freed from Tartarus the cyclopes and centimanes, who participated in the 10-year war against the Titans. As the centimanes defeated Cronus’ war chief Atlas and his Titan army, Zeus and his brothers defeated Cronus and confined him and most of his allies to Tartarus.

In modern times, a battle between the war god Ares and Bruce Banner, AKA the Hulk, weakened the gate sealing Tartarus, and Cronus led the Olympian gigantes against Zeus, but the Olympian gods defeated and returned them to Tartarus, thanks to Zeus’ son Heracles, AKA Hercules. After Zeus was slain by Amatsu Mikaboshi, AKA Mikaboshi, Cronus testified in favor of Zeus’ punishment in Tartarus.
