Biography

Biography

Intern Darcy Lewis works with scientists to unearth the mysteries of the cosmos and meets gods and monsters along the way.

College Student

To earn college credits, intern Darcy Lewis joins astrophysicists Dr. Jane Foster and Dr. Erik Selvig to study Einstein-Rosen Bridges, teleportation portals or wormholes to other worlds.

Intern Extraordinaire

Boasting a basic understanding of science, Darcy does her best to keep up with her Professor Selvig and Foster. She offers a more grounded perspective to the two scientists and assists them with their experiments. She uses sarcasm and a casual bluntness that offers levity during times of crises, is a resourceful intern and supportive friend.

Close Ties and Enemies

Assisting scientist Jane Foster and professor Erik Selvig to earn college credits, Darcy becomes more than just their intern. She becomes their friend, offering emotional support as they continue to work together.

While studying unusual weather, Darcy meets Thor Odinson, AKA Thor, from Asgard who arrives to Earth from an Einstein-Rosen Bridge called the Bifrost. She stuns him upon their first meeting, not trusting his ramblings, but appreciates his good looks.

Darcy comes in contact with S.H.I.E.L.D. and their representative Agent Phil Coulson who confiscates Foster and Selvig’s equipment. However, Coulson and the agency were actually an ally—they helped protect Foster, and Darcy by proxy, when he clandestinely offered Foster a job to protect her from Loki.

Darcy’s enemies are also the enemies of Earth, which includes Thor’s malicious brother Loki Laufeyson, AKA Loki, who sends the Destroyer to New Mexico where she interns with Foster. She also goes up against and helps defeat the Dark Elf Malekith, who desires to rule all the realms.

A Student’s Story

While driving to investigate an unusual weather occurrence in Puente Antiguo, New Mexico with Selvig and Foster, Darcy watched the instruments while Foster drove towards the storm. Their vehicle was equipped with data-capturing technology. Upon their arrival, they hit a man with their vehicle. They found the man unconscious at first but he awoke with a start and spouted nonsense, claiming he was Thor. Darcy thought he was inebriated, so she tasered him, knocking him out. The trio struggled to lift him into their vehicle and dropped him off at a hospital.

The next day, while discussing the storm, Darcy discovered in their photographs from the storm that the man they hit was a part of the storm itself. They went back to the hospital to pick up Thor and ended up hitting them with their car again. They took Thor to eat, who overheard a conversation about a satellite that fell from the sky. Thor departed to reclaim his property while Darcy, Foster, and Selvig returned to their lab, which was being confiscated by Agent Phil Coulson who was from some shady government agency calling themselves S.H.I.E.L.D.

After Selvig liberated Thor from being captured at a S.H.I.E.L.D.-protected facility, where the satellite was being studied, they discussed theories and then additional Asgardians, the Warriors Three with Lady Sif, arrived to help their friend Thor, who were dressed in strange costumes. Shortly thereafter, a massive robot, the Destroyer, arrived, which was sent by Thor’s brother Loki, to eliminate Thor. Thor offered to help protect the people from it since he was merely a man now and would only get in the way of the other Asgardians. When the Asgardians failed to contain it, Darcy and the others watched as Thor sacrificed himself to protect everyone. He then received the satellite, which was his hammer Mjolnir, and was able to defeat the Destroyer. Thor negotiated with Agent Coulson to return Foster’s research.

When Jane became frustrated with their work on wormholes, Darcy reminded her that Thor did say he’d come back for her, but Jane wasn’t about to give up. They continued studying wormholes for a year until Jane got offered a job in Norway, secretly coordinated by Agent Coulson to protect her from Loki’s return to Earth, Foster took the job and Darcy followed.

When Darcy found Thor on Earth fighting aliens that had infiltrated New York City, Foster discovered the truth of her job and who set it up and became frustrated that S.H.I.E.L.D. didn’t tell them the truth. Darcy and Foster then traveled to the Bronx where they picked up Erik Selvig from a medical facility who was recovering after having been controlled by Loki. Realizing that Thor was now gone, Darcy supported Foster when she decided to give up on her quest to help Thor return to Earth, since he clearly could return without her help and didn’t bother to contact her.

When Darcy and her new intern Ian investigated a phenomenon in London, Jane disappeared for hours. Worried for Foster’s safety, Darcy called the police and as soon as Foster reappeared, so did Thor who whisked her away. Darcy and Ian then liberated Erik Selvig from a London Psychiatric hospital. He was being held after he was caught running around Stonehenge naked, ranting about a convergence of worlds and wielding gravimetric spikes, technology that would stabilize the focal point of the convergence. Darcy had Ian pose as Selvig’s son and they traveled to Foster’s lab.

Darcy joined Jane, Thor, Ian, and Selvig at her lab where Selvig had an epiphany about the convergence regarding the map that the great constructions, the Mayans, the Chinese, the Egyptians, left behind that led to Greenwich. The group traveled there to set up Selvig’s gravimetric spikes, and Darcy with Ian’s help hammered them into the grounds surrounding Greenich’s grounds. While they were setting up, the Dark Elf Malekith from Svartalfheim crash landed into Greenwich. Once they activated the spikes, the technology worked for them to capture and slay Malekith. As Foster and Thor celebrated in a passionate embrace, Darcy, Ian, and Selvig looked on in victory.
