When several heroes from reality Earth-616 come through an interdimensional portal, Death Mask faces new enemies in his annoying parallel self Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, and Bruce Banner, AKA Hulk.
Underlings
Death Mask’s headquarters, Wilson Tower, is heavily guarded by giant robots called Deathbots. Death Mask also employs several lackeys, such as Victor von Doom, AKA Death Wish, and Wilson Fisk, AKA Dead Weight. Though when displeased with any of his lackeys, he dispatches them quickly and without remorse.
A Death-Defying History
Death Mask hired Death Wish to procure an interdimensional translocator device from Parker Technologies. He was displeased to hear from his spies that the mechanism was destroyed during an altercation with the Amazing Spider. He was further disappointed to hear that his agent Death Wish went off with a strange counterpart—Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, who traveled to his world from Earth-616. Interrupting Death Wish who was still with Deadpool, he killed him for his failure.
Meanwhile, Death Mask’s criminal operatives started dropping like flies. Brain Dead, Deadeye, Dead Head, and Bob were all murdered by Deadpool, who had vowed to destroy Death Mask and his operation.
When Deadpool entered Wilson Tower, he easily fooled the robotic guards with his likeness to Death Mask. While Death Mask was punishing a crony who failed him, Deadpool interrupted and threw a bomb at him. Death Mask awoke to find himself not only bound and gagged, but also dressed as Deadpool. The real Deadpool meanwhile had donned Death Mask’s garb and ordered his lackey Dead Weight to blow up the attacker, “Deadpool.” In the process, Dead Weight was taken in the blast. Death Mask healed and after crawling out of the Hudson River, he returned to Wilson Tower only to be struck in the head by a book that Deadpool tossed out a window.
Days later, Death Mask kneeled before the Hell-Lord Mephisto where he laid out the terms of his request. He offered Mephisto his soul and eternal servitude and in return Mephisto would unbind a seal and release monsters on Earth. Mephisto took the deal and the first monster to emerge was the Infernal Hulk. Though the heroes of his reality and from Earth-616, including Deadpool, defeated him. The Infernal Hulk was returned to Mephisto’s Hell where Death Mask, holding up his end of the bargain, faced him in a battle pit known as the Arena of Tainted Souls.
