Biography

Biography

In a violent and dangerous world, Ronin Deadpool takes a solemn vow of vengeance against a powerful tyrant and stops at nothing to dispatch his target.

Spotty Memory

Hailing from Earth-11542 and 17th century Japan, Watari remembers very little about his past, leading him to live a life as a wanderer. But he knows one thing for sure, he’s good at killing and he must do so.

Trained to Kill

Watari is an expert armed combatant, often wielding a pair of katanas. He is battle-hardened and trained to fight off and kill assailants.

Backstabbers

The Daimyo is Watari’s leader on the battlefield and liege lord, who betrays him. In retaliation, Watari slays him.

Brothers

While Watari has trouble remembering his past, he does recall Wolverine, the man with claws who cannot die, whom he calls brother. Though Wolverine seems to have memory issues as well and treats Watari like a fool who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Watari later joins the Deadpool Corps in a fight against evil Deadpools from across the Multiverse.

Wandering Through His Own History

Watari wandered until starvation took over. As luck would have it, a village sought a Samurai in exchange for payment and food. When Watari arrived at the village, he couldn’t bring himself to fight, so they kicked him out. He interrupted a meditating monk hoping for food, but he too kicked him to the curb.

When Watari met the Daimyo on the road, he did not bow to him, though he couldn’t remember him specifically, he knew he must kill him. The Daimyo thought him a fool for not bowing, but allowed him to live. Watari soon snuck into the Daimyo’s home and after slaying all his guards, the Daimyo confronted him with his sword unsheathed. Asking if he knew why Watari wanted to slay him, Watari only knew that he must do so. The Daimyo revealed that he had sent Watari to his death as he was too dangerous to live. As their pair fought, clashing katanas, Watari admitted that he had few memories. Losing the fight and in an act of desperation, the Daimyo offered him land, position and girls, but Watari was uninterested and slayed the Daimyo, despite not remembering why he wanted him dead. With his enemy gone, Watari’s memories returned: He recalled a battle and taking orders from the Daimyo, who had subsequently betrayed him. After waking from the stench of the deadly battle, Watari wandered for years, working in a tea shop. Though clear in his recollection for a moment, his memories faded and he ceased to recall why he killed the Daimyo.

Watari soon met Wolverine on the road, remembering how he had buried him. Calling him brother, he admitted to killing the Daimyo. Thinking him a fool, Wolverine didn’t believe him and became angry that Watari took away his purpose for living, and walked away in a huff.

When Earth-12101’s Dreadpool gathered evil Deadpool doppelgängers, Watari joined Earth-616’s Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, on the Deadpool Corps. He fought to his death to protect the Multiverse from Dreadpool and his minions.
