Little is known about Thermite's life before he was recruited by Nighthawk into the Redeemers. Along with four other Redeemers (Haywire, Inertia, Moonglow, and Redstone), he infiltrated the Squadron Supreme and served for about a month before the Redeemers openly opposed the Squadron. During the battle between the Squadron and the Redeemers Haywire used his tanglewire to cause the Whizzer to trip and roll into Thermite's regulator pack causing it to overload thus killing Thermite.
