New in Marvel Unlimited…
Picking up where POWERS OF X #2 left off, Cyclops deploys his team of “good mutants all” in HOUSE OF X #3 by Jonathan Hickman and Pepe Larraz. The X-Men’s mission? Dismantle the Mother Mold Sentinel, currently being built within the sun’s orbit at the outer space base of the Orchis Forge.
Orchis’ human scientists have been hard at work manufacturing their final solution for mutants. Charles Xavier and Magneto have heavily leveraged Krakoa’s pharmaceutical output against humankind’s survival, and Orchis fears the outcome of this tenuous, and unfairly balanced, arrangement. That’s where this new “Master Mold” figures in.
Cyclops’ team is comprised of the usual suspects, barring one. Mystique, long considered one of the X-Men’s most slippery sometimes-foes, is now part of the fold, committed to ending her life in success, or failure, towards their cause.
And, for those Marvel Insiders following our #1 ABSOLUTE CARNAGE CHALLENGE for 1,000 INSIDER POINTS, the final issues for your checklist are in the library! Wrap up your reading with ABSOLUTE CARNAGE: MILES MORALES (2019) #1 and ABSOLUTE CARNAGE: LETHAL PROTECTORS (2019) #1, and visit our Reading List to see what other issues you’ll need to complete in order to earn those points!
After reading both of these issues, make sure to follow up with the second chapter of the ABSOLUTE CARNAGE main event. It will fill in more of the blanks, particularly with Miles Morales’ scramble against Scorpion: Mac Gargan, once a host to a sentient symbiote. (See: MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #10.) Issue #2 also establishes exactly why the Cult of Carnage is so intent on claiming Eddie Brock’s son, Dylan. (Continued in VENOM #17.)
It’s going to be a rocky ride, of that much we’re certain.
And, for those looking to take a bite out of major Marvel history…! MARVEL COMICS #1000 is now in MU, and this monumental ish homages Marvel’s 80-year legacy, dating back to MARVEL COMICS (1939) #1.
Issue #1000 gathers together the greatest array of talent ever to be assembled between the covers of a single comic book. Names from the past, from the present, and even the future! Every page is filled with stories from a cavalcade of comic book luminaries, with a mystery that threads throughout the Marvel Universe. What is the Eternity Mask, and who is responsible for the conspiracy to keep it hidden? Find out here!
And, you asked, we listened! We have a slew of exciting arrivals to this week’s Throwback Thursday picks, including issues #69-74 of Wolverine’s 1988 series. It’s into the Savage Land with Rogue and Jubilee, and if Logan isn’t worrying about a ravenous T-Rex, he’s got his hands full trying to skewer Pterodactyl-esque mutate, Sauron.
See all of this week’s Marvel Unlimited titles here, including our handful of Throwback Thursday arrivals, hitting the library March 5.
