Kree geneticist Doctor Minerva will stop at nothing to propel her race into their evolutionary ascension with her radical eugenics program.
Agent of the Empire
Born in Edelix on the planet Kree-Lar, Minn-Erva grows up to study genetics. She graduates from the Kree Science Academy in bio-genetics and becomes an agent of the Kree Empire.
Researching a way to advance the Kree, who were stuck in an evolutionary dead end according to their leader, the Supreme Intelligence (SI), Kree geneticist Doctor Minerva theorized Mar-Vell, AKA Captain Marvel’s mutated genetic makeup could produce superior offspring. The Supreme Science Council (SSC) allow her to travel on science cruiser Ananim to Earth to mate with Mar-Vell, but upon her arrival, Mar-Vell was absent, having gone on a mission to the planet Gramos.
Fearing he would never return, she abducts Rick Jones, whose previous atomic connection to Mar-Vell left him with similar chromosomes, which Minerva intended to extract. Mar-Vell returns to save Jones, rejecting Minerva even though he sympathized with her. When Minerva refuses to abandon her mission, SSC leader Phae-Dor knocks her unconscious and remotely controls her ship. Mar-Vell crashes the vessel during combat with a Phae-Dor’s controlled energy construct and recovers her from the wreckage. He hides Minerva from authorities before bringing her to a farm in Sullivan County, Texas, to live with other Kree refugees while Minerva starts genetic research on humanity.
Super-Strong Geneticist
Superhumanly strong (lifting 10 tons) and durable, Doctor Minerva can fly at subsonic speed by manipulating gravitons. Her enhanced perception allows her to hone in on individuals and energy signatures on a planet-wide radius.
A gifted bio-geneticist knowledgeable in genetic engineering and procreation, she occasionally uses glove-mounted energy blasters and can operate sophisticated Kree technology and spaceships. When she uses the genes of newly transformed earthlings from Terrigenesis, she applies those genes to herself and becomes a monstrous version of herself, equipped with claws, wings, an extended jaw, and an increased muscular structure.
Traitors and Assailants
Doctor Minerva goes up against the Avengers during the Kree-Shi’ar war, getting captured by them but then the tables turn and she guards them for the Supreme Intelligence. She also goes up against Wendell Vaughn, AKA Quasar, and Simon Williams, AKA Wonder Man, when she tries to steal Mar-Vell’s Nega-Bands from his grave.
The Kree’s hero Mar-Vell turns out to be a traitor, but he is also thought to be the Kree’s genetic savior with the help of Doctor Minerva’s own genotype. Thinking him the ideal mate, she’s proven wrong when he disagrees, though he does save her despite her schemes from the SSC authorities, and hides her from the Empire.
Doctor Minerva answers to the Kree’s SSC, but when she refuses to abandon her eugenics program, SSC leader Phae-Dor takes control of her ship and knocks her out.
Kree Connections
The Kree’s Supreme Intelligence assembles the Kree Starforce team, employing his Supremore android, to help the SI rule again. Team members include Minerva, Korath the Pursuer, Roco-Bai, AKA Shatterax, Ultimus, Att-Lass, AKA Captain Atlas, and later, Ronan the Accuser. Alongside Starforce, Doctor Minerva faces the Avengers in battle during the Kree-Shi’ar War, and supports the SI’s plan to jumpstart the Kree race into the next phase of their evolutionary ascension.
While Captain Atlas is one of the Kree’s most decorated soldiers, he’s also Doctor Minerva’s partner and love. They work together at the behest of the SI, serving on the Ramatam spacecraft and Starforce team. Later, Doctor Minerva and Atlas seek to parent a race of Super-Kree when she realizes that he is her most eugenically ideal mate.
A Geneticist’s Journal
When Minerva learned of Mar-Vell’s death from cancer, she despaired, but soon discovered the Psyche-Magnitron device and mutated herself to become the savior Mar-Vell refused to be. She contacted the Kree Empire, who sent Captain Atlas to retrieve her, and Minerva fell in love with him. She mutated him to make him her ideal mate. Before leaving Earth, they saw footage of Quasar and Atlas recognized the Quantum-Bands as the legendary Power-Bands of Rinn.
Posing as humans working for the Xenotech corporation, they hired Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.) to steal the bands. When A.I.M. failed, they abducted Quasar while he slept. On Atlas’ light cruiser Ramatam, Minerva tried to remove Quasar’s hands with lasers to retrieve the bands, but Quasar subconsciously activated them to defend himself and, upon awakening, fought Atlas and Minerva; Atlas accidentally blew a hole in the ship’s hull and was sucked into space. Fearing her year-long work ruined, Minerva begged Quasar to help her rescue Atlas. He did, and both Kree promised never to return to Earth’s solar system.
During the Kree-Shi’ar War, Minerva supported the SI’s plan to jumpstart Kree evolution by detonating the Nega-Bomb in the Kree Empire. To help power the bomb, she and Atlas stole Mar-Vell’s Nega-Bands from his grave on Titan, but Quasar and Wonder Man caught them respectively. Shrunk by Dr. Henry Pym, AKA Hank Pym, and imprisoned at Avengers Compound alongside Shi’ar Imperial Guardsmen, they were soon freed by other guardsmen, including the Chameleoid known as Shapeshifter, who knocked Minerva out and impersonated her to trick Atlas into stealing the Nega-Bands for the Shi’ar.
Minerva somehow escaped and joined the SI’s Starforce to protect Kree rulers Ael-Dann and Dar-Benn from the Avengers only to become trapped under an energy shield and witness Shi’ar Empress Lilandra Neramani’s sister Cal’Syee Neramani, AKA Deathbird, slay both rulers. Starforce caught the Avengers, and Minerva and Atlas guarded them until the Nega-Bomb detonated and further mutated Minerva and Atlas, who were among the relatively few survivors on Kree-Lar. When Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, confronted Minerva about her involvement with the Intelligence’s plan, Atlas claimed to have activated a self-destruct mechanism in his battle-suit to commit suicide but actually teleported himself and Minerva to a nearby planet, where they planned to parent a race of Super-Kree.
When Norrin Radd, AKA Silver Surfer, found them, they feared he was sent to capture them, but when they realized this was not the case they convinced him they wanted to live peacefully in exile, leaving him oblivious to their plans.
Soon after, Kosmosian criminals connected Erik Josten, AKA Goliath, to those previously altered by Pym Particles, including Minerva and Atlas, and sent them after Pym, whom the Kosmosians blamed for everybody’s ongoing size alterations. Minerva and Atlas returned to Kosmos after failing to capture Bill Foster, AKA Goliath, and were apparently stranded on Kosmos when Pym severed the Kosmosians’ connection to Earth.
Later in Manhattan, Minerva had a clash with Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, and Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel, over a cocoon she had stolen from a hospital that was still undergoing Terrigenesis. When they interrupted her getaway, she ordered her lackeys to get the cocoon to the rendezvous point while she crushed their interlopers. During their battle, Minerva admitted her plan to them in full, that she planned to graft the newly transformed earthlings malleable genes onto a new race of Kree Super-Soldiers. She then transformed into a monstrous creature with bat-like wings and claws, proving that her experiments had already started. Now able to fire concussive blasts of energy from her eyes, she wreaked havoc on the city as she fought her assailants. Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel outsmarted the monstrous Dr. Minerva, knocking her out and overpowering her minions, they stole back the cocoon.
